About the man

Michael Corner was born on July 25, 1980 to Anna and Dominic Corner. He’s the middle child sandwiched between his older brother Sean and his younger sister Sioned. His childhood was a happy one, spent playing quidditch, learning, and running wild through the welsh countryside when he could. Gradually his parents began to spend more time teaching him how to be a proper member of wizarding society so that he could meet their expectations once he was older. Michael's parents were strict and mostly fair, expecting the best that their children could offer. With no tolerance for children who shirked their duties, Michael became obsessed with avoiding failure. It wasn't that his parents were unfair or unkind, just perhaps overly strict with a young child who perhaps would've been better served with a touch more freedom.

When Michael was eleven his Hogwarts letter arrived excited for their child, the Corners threw a party for their youngest (at the time) inviting other wizarding children from families they were good friends with. It was one of Michael’s favorite memories that he would often think back on during his first year at Hogwarts when he was homesick. Upon his arrival at Hogwarts he was sorted into Ravenclaw like his father and his older brother. He spent the first year getting to know his housemates, exploring the library, and being brought out of his shell a tiny bit. His second year, was marked by the attacks on students and the shock of the Headmaster being removed, all of which was third, and fourth years were much the same except he began playing Quidditch for the Ravenclaw team as a chaser. He also began to date Ginny Weasley after meeting her at the Yule Ball however their relationship didn’t last long due to his sulking after the Gryffindor Quidditch team defeated the Ravenclaw team. Later that year he briefly took up with Cho Chang, but it wasn’t very serious. Thankfully, he’s grown up since then and has managed to smooth things over with both girls. Through Ginny he joined the DA, which he originally did to spend time with her although he did agree with the idea. After their breakup he continued to be an active part as he truly believed in the organization and wanted to see it succeed. Like many students who were left at Hogwarts, the last year and a half was the hardest for Michael. His time was spent trying to get decent marks in his classes, worrying about family, and trying to keep his spirits up.

The aftermath of the final battle was hard on him and he's been trying to work on helping rebuild as he can. Michael currently works as an oblivator at the Ministry of Magic, although he doesn't blindly support the Ministry. He hopes to work to make changes from the inside, although he wouldn't want to be in the spotlight as he'd be more than happy to work behind the scenes.

The middle child, Michael occasionally suffers from bouts of insecurity. His insecurities stem from having to live up to his older brother Sean while playing the big brother to his younger sister Sioned. Even though he knows that he’s not loved any less than his siblings, from time to time he does feel like he’s forgotten between his charismatic brother and his baby sister. Ten years younger than his brother, Michael idolized Sean. It was Sean who practiced Quidditch with him when their father was too busy. Sean who taught him the all of the things that his parents probably didn’t want him to learn but knew he would anyway. At some point that adoration turned into envy as Sean excelled at Hogwarts, becoming Prefect and Quidditch captain. His well meaning parents didn’t help the issue by pointing to his older brother as an example of what he could be if he applied himself driving a wedge further between the siblings that neither one knew if they could fix. Having come into his own at Hogwarts and finding his place has helped greatly, although he’s not sure if he can get back the relationship they once had. He supposes that time will tell.

Michael is a bundle of contradictions. He’s non-confrontational and yet will stand up for his friends in a blink of an eye. He’s an introvert until you get to know him or ask him about one of his interests, and then he won’t be quiet. Incredibly intelligent, but he only puts effort into the classes that truly interest him. Michael finds that those who don’t know him find him confusing, and that’s exactly how he likes it. He’s passionate about several things in life. Quidditch, photography, reading, and muggle classic rock. Get him going on any of these topics and he can go on at length, occasionally stopping to breathe. Michael is starting to become more vocal now that he’s lived through a war. It's amazing how fast war can force you to grow up and stop living strictly for yourself. He’s learned that if you don’t stand up for something you’ll fall for anything, and he refuses to be that type of person who just sits back and lets things happen. He can still be passive aggressive, but with the help of good friends he’s working on it. In politics, Michael is however currently neutral, having no patience for the extremist on either side. Michael does however lean more towards Wizards for Muggles, even though some of it's proponents do seem rather over enthusiastic, at times the alternative seems far worse.
